Chairs Report - Staff:

Without whom we wouldn't be here. I often think that the building would work fine without us, the Board, but without the staff the doors wouldn't even open. Makes you feel kind of redundant.

I have to begin with my customary praise for our Managing Director Denise Devine. In the view of the BURA panel, "energy, strong leadership, single-minded vision, and above all tenacity have clearly driven this project to succeed". They could have written those words about Denise herself.

This year, she has excelled herself. As well as dealing with the Trials of Life, she has continued to ensure the smooth running of the Centre and all that entails, as well as keeping on top of the Refurbishment Project. In addition, she has taken on a number of other projects, including the development of the Liverpool Community Centre Network on behalf of DMAC and taking the Chair of The Florence Institute Trust Ltd, aiming to restore the South Liverpool gem along the DMAC model. It takes a special person to do what she does. The place really wouldn't be the same without her.

Thanks to Maxine Davies for her sterling work, and for being a flower of the South End. I'm absolutely thrilled that we've managed to keep hold of both our caretakers, Paul Comer and Jon Kwao. Together, you've beat the jinx Tocky Town Hall's always had with caretakers. We said goodbye to receptionist Suzanne Caveney, caretaker David McCoy, Cleaning assistants Denise Atkinson & Suneeta Kur who left us to move to pastures new. We wish them all the best for the future. Cala Comer still keeps us so fresh and so clean. Welcome to new receptionists Danielle Bamfield and Caroline Lavery. Together, you make a tremendous contribution to the daily success of Toxteth Town Hall.
