Refurbishment & Restoration
Completion of the Restoration Project: This year, the restoration project was finally completed, after much delay and frustration. What do you think? We hope you agree that we have worked wonders. The building looks and works better than it has in a very, very long time.
- The Main Hall is restored (mostly) to its former glory, period details over the fireplaces and colour schemes authentically recovered, and improvements to acoustics, lighting, access and overall look. It's gorgeous. It's a jewel in our crown and a priceless asset. We aim to boost use of the Hall in 2006 through increased marketing to new and existing user groups.
- Disabled access improvements. The secondary ramp access at the rear of the building complements the access via Letitia St. The Induction Loop in the Hall and at reception bring our services to the hard of hearing. The Braille signage, non-slip flooring, acoustic and other improvements make us one of the most accessible buildings in the area.
- External improvements. The building has been restored externally, with new railings, repaired flagstones, improved signage, newly painted woodwork, guttering and drain pipes. We have taken anti-pigeon measures and CCTV covers all entrances. Our new Notice Board is a handsome addition to the frontage, keeping the public informed of what we have to offer. The building looks and feels a whole lot better than when we found it 8 years ago.
